Rival Gaming to block new US players

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

Just days after the Black Friday indictments and seizures, shockwaves continue to ripple throughout the online gambling community. On Friday, the U.S. federal government unsealed its indictment of 11 defendants related to online poker operations, including the owners of PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker. They also seized the domains for those websites, shutting them down, and froze various bank accounts. Players who had money deposited with any of those companies probably won’t get it back.

Soon thereafter, Steve Wynn announced that he was ending Wynn Resorts’ partnership with PokerStars, less than one month after the partnership was announced. Now Nevada lawmakers are taking heat for accepting campaign contributions from a political action committee started by PokerStars. The government is looking into whether any law was broken in regards to the contributions and in the meantime, many legislators are giving the money back and distancing themselves from the online poker company.

And now the latest news comes from respected online gambling software designer Rival Gaming. According to sources, the company has announced that they have closed their door to new U.S. players. Any online casinos using Rival’s software will no longer accept new members from the United States, though they will continue to allow existing American customers to play there. How long that will last is anyone’s guess. Some players will undoubtedly withdraw their money to be on the safe side.

Though Rival Gaming did not say why they are no longer accepting new U.S. customers, the reason seems clear. They don’t want to be targeted by the Justice Department and have their assets seized. By blocking new customers, they are making an outward sign of caution and compliance. There has been no explanation of whether this new policy will be temporary or long term.

Rival Gaming Released Spy-themed Slot

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Though they are new to the industry, Rival Gaming is making a name for themselves with their story-based online slots. The newest game Spy Game, which is available at any online casinos that carry Rival Gaming slots.

Spy Game is a game based on James Bond, though without the Bond license, which means it features symbols of an unidentified British “secret agent” who wears tuxedos, drinks martinis, and drives an Aston Martin. I put secret agent in parenthesis because if 007 is really worried about his identity, why does he always introduce himself as “Bond, James Bond.” Would it kill him to use an alias. Not very clandestine, is it?

Spy Game is a 5-reel, 15-payline online slot with various bonus rounds, such as defusing a bomb, that can earn the player extra credits. Players can wager up to 5 coins per payline in a denomination of 1 cent to 50 cents. Maximum payout is 24,000 credits.

So if you like your martinis shaken, not stirred, like your executions to be carried out by elaborate death traps that never work, and like your villains to explain their entire plan before leaving and assuming that the death traps did the job, then make your way over to your favorite online casino and check out Spy Game.

Rival Gaming Slots Paying Over 100%

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

It has been reported that in the month of July so far Rival Gaming’s online slots are paying out over 100%. This isn’t like those idiotic athletes who insist they’re going to “go out and give 110%,” either. This number is real. While it is not uncommon for online slots to pay over 100% over a short time, like a few days, a string that lasts this long doesn’t happen often.

Seven different online slot games from Cyprus-based Rival Gaming are paying out over 100%, including their newest game, Psychedelic Sixties. That game, reports say, paid out $7,000 on a free spin on a wager of $1.40. You don’t have to be Monty Hall to recognize that good deal. Other online slots, such as Western Wilderness, are also paying out big. The game, which conjures images of cattle drives and shootouts, is paying at 100.56%. Other older games, such as Flea Market, Surf Paradise, and Sudoku Box Game, are also paying over 100%.

Online slots are games of chance, with completely random outcomes and requiring little to no skill. For that reason, trends like this can happen, but they disappear just as quickly as they arrived. No one knows how long the slots will be hot, but it is likely that many players will be flocking to the hot games in an attempt to cash in on the success. Players would be wise to do so soon. For anything completely random, streaks such as these usually don’t last long. In fact, it’s a statistical anomaly that it has lasted this long.
