VIP Slots giving away a Sony home theater system

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

VIP Slots Casino, you know what I like. Like many people, during football season I spend too much time in front of the TV, watching my favorite college teams on Saturday and pro teams on Sunday. The only thing better than watching football on my TV is watching it on a fancy HD home theater system. VIP Slots is giving away a home theater to some lucky winner in their current sweepstakes.

The top prize in the current month-long sweepstakes held by the online casino is a Sony Bravia home theater system. There are smaller prizes as well, such as cash prizes ranging from $50 to $500. On September 30, the casino will choose winners in the sweepstakes by randomly picking winning tickets. Players can use their loyalty points (the VIP Plan) to purchase tickets. One ticket costs 500 loyalty points and you can purchase as many tickets as you want.

Even when there is no sweepstakes that interests you, your loyalty points can be redeemed for prizes from the VIP Plan catalog. There are many prizes available, such as a PlayStation 3, an iPod Touch, an HD TV, camcorder and more. At any time, players can also redeem their loyalty points for cash. With the VIP Plan loyalty points, players are rewarded for their continued support of the online casino.

To qualify for the sweepstakes, all you have to do is purchase at least one ticket for 500 points and you must have made a deposit at the casino within the last 90 days. So if you haven’t made a deposit lately, I suggest you do; otherwise, you can’t win the Sony home theater system.

So if you happen to win the big-screen TV and home theater system, take pride in the fact that while you’re watching the same football game on ESPN as I am, your players look larger and clearer and the action seems closer and more dynamic than ever before. Now I’m jealous. So don’t enter. I don’t care!

Sorry about that. It was just the jealousy talking. To enter the sweepstakes, visit VIP Slots Casino.

Online gambling spikes in the UK

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

This just in: Online gambling is becoming more popular than Facebook in the UK, according to the Nielsen Company. Nielsen is best known as a company that reports television ratings to the networks. In a recent study released by the Nielsen Company, it is reported that in the last year online gambling in the UK grew more than Facebook. Nielsen says that an additional 3.2 million people went to online gambling sites last year, which is a 40% increase from the previous year. Social media sites, including behemoth Facebook, increased by approximately 2.2 million users.

According to the study, middle-aged men were the largest demographic responsible for the increase, but it is not only men visiting online casinos. According to Nielsen, 46% of online gamblers are women. The company also stated that online poker and online bingo are the most popular games with British citizens and that online poker websites fared the best of the online gambling sites.

A number of conclusions can be drawn from this data, but the most obvious point that it is making is that online gambling is more popular than ever and continues to grow at an impressive rate. Any countries that prohibit online gambling need to look at the implications of this Nielsen study: Not only is online gambling popular, but it is becoming more popular rather than less.

To be fair, I don’t know how much faith to put in the statistics compiled by the Nielsen Company. After all, this is the same group that year after year tells us that Two and a Half Men is the most-watched comedy in America. Not only do I not know a single person who watches the show, I’ve never found a person on the planet who thinks it’s funny. Also, with all of those years of American Idol being the “most watched” show, I certainly hope Nielsen’s figures are wrong. If not, I fear for the future of America.

Still, even if you don’t have a lot of faith in Nielsen’s research, it is undeniable that gambling, particularly poker, is more popular than ever right now. A game that used to be played in a dark card room hidden from the rest of the world is now on national television. For that reason, countries that ban online gambling, such as the United States, should seriously take a look at legalizing and regulating the industry. It will make the people happier and more free and as an added benefit, the government will earn additional revenue.

Mid-week slot tournaments at Go Casino

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

It’s only Tuesday and we’re a long way from the weekend slot tournaments that are so popular at Go Casino, but there is still plenty of tournament action to keep you interested. If you have some free time, it’s a good time to play some slot tournaments at Go Casino. After all, there won’t be any more football until the end of the week, so what else are you going to do? There’s nothing on TV.

Tonight is the end of the $30,000 Weekend Madness tournament played on the Bigfoot slot, but you can still play and earn prizes until 10:45 PM. There is also the $8,888 Guaranteed slot tournament, which begins tonight and 10:30 PM and ends tomorrow night at the same time. The tournament is played on the Cupids Arrows slot. There is an entry fee of $6.99, which gives you 250 credits. Players can re-buy for the same amount. The tournament has a prize pool of $4,444 in casino credits and $4,444 in bonus bucks.

For video poker players, there is also the $2,500 BB Guaranteed tournament. That tournament begins tonight at 8:00 and ends tomorrow night at the same time. It is played on the Multi Hand Aces and Faces video poker game. The tournament’s entry fee is only $1.99 and players compete for a prize pool of $2,500 in bonus bucks.

Blackjack fans have a Blackjack Pot Percentage tournament ending tonight at 8:00 PM and another day-long tournament beginning on Wednesday at the same time. The blackjack tournament ending tonight is played on the Perfect Pair Blackjack game and the one beginning tomorrow is played on the Vegas Strip Blackjack game. Both tournaments have an entry fee of $0.99 and players compete for a share of the pot.

New Jersey gambling summit features debate, no resolutions

Monday, September 13th, 2010

On Friday, New Jersey lawmakers met for the second gambling summit, in order to debate the various issues affecting their gambling industry as well as consider possible solutions. The U.S. state of New Jersey is basically cut into two sections when it comes to gambling. The southern part of the state is the Atlantic City market, known for its large, luxurious casino resorts. The northern part of the state is the Meadowlands market, where racetracks pull in gambling revenue. Neither industry is doing well right now.

You don’t have to be an economic guru to understand why gambling businesses are struggling right now. In this recession, most businesses are struggling – except for road construction, of course – and with people cutting back on the money they spend, unnecessary expenses like trips to a casino are the first to get cut. President Obama even told people not to go to casinos, much to the chagrin of Las Vegas and Atlantic City!

New Jersey’s economy is worse than most of the country, thanks to Jon Corzine’s big-government policies driving them into the ground. New governor Chris Christie shows promise, but it will take time for him to turn things around.

In an attempt to boost business, the Meadowlands racetracks want to add other casino games to their businesses. Since Christie wants to end government subsidization of the racetracks, some see expanding their games to include more casino games is the only way to compete and stay in business.

In the gambling summit, lawmakers called for an increase in off-track betting parlors in the state. Currently, 15 such parlors are allowed by law, but only three exist. While the idea of opening more off-track betting parlors and allowing more casino games at the racetracks appeals to some, owners of Atlantic City casinos largely oppose the measure. They fear that if residents had access to closer casino games they would not make a trip to Atlantic City, which Christie is attempting to turn into a major tourist destination (and not just for gamblers). Atlantic City is also facing tough competition from neighboring states.

Another idea that was debated in the summit was creating an intrastate online gambling market. The area’s land-based casinos could create online casinos and only people within the borders of New Jersey could play. Since it’s confined to the state’s borders, no federal regulation or legalization would be necessary and UIGEA would be irrelevant.

While there was much debate, this little “fact-finding” meeting had little real results. Lawmakers never came to an agreement on any plans to revive the struggling gambling markets. The meeting was held in large part to come up with an alternative to Christie’s plans, but no better plan emerged (except maybe the intrastate online gambling plan, which wasn’t supported by every member in attendance). So I guess it’s politics as usual.

Casino bonuses at Super Slots

Monday, September 13th, 2010

Many businesses are tightening their belts right now and cutting back on the rewards they give to customers. Credit card companies are getting rid of their rewards cards or requiring more points for each prize. Airlines are cutting back on the free food and drinks and charging more for luggage. Even dollar menus are being affected! The online casino industry, however, realizes that they need good bonuses and other rewards to keep players visiting. That’s good news for the consumers. Right now Super Slots Casino has excellent casino bonuses available.

New players can take advantage of the welcome bonus at Super Slots, where the online casino offers a 100% match bonus on the first deposit. Your first deposit isn’t the only one that comes with a bonus. On Mondays, you can receive a 75% match bonus and on Wednesdays you can receive a 50% match bonus.

Those are normal bonus offers, but Super Slots is also holding a special bonus for the next week. From September 15 through September 20, players are eligible for a one-time bonus of 150% of your deposit. The bonus code for that special bonus is PD0910.

The bonus money can be wagered on any games at the online casino, including their online slots, blackjack, roulette, video poker and more. To take advantage of the casino bonuses, visit Super Slots Casino.

UK government pushing for online betting in India

Friday, September 10th, 2010

There is a push to regulate online sports betting in India and it’s coming from an unlikely source: the United Kingdom. India gained their independence from the U.K. back in 1947, but the British crown still has a lot of influence in the country and they are trying to use that influence to legalize and regulate online gambling.

On the heels of a major cricket scandal, where three Pakistani bowlers were caught accepting bribes for a match against England, the U.K. government sees a regulated sports betting industry as being safer than the current prohibition. All forms of online gambling are banned in India.

The U.K.’s sports minister, Hugh Robertson, is in India to represent his government and the Gambling Commission, which oversees all of the online casinos based in the United Kingdom. Robertson will attempt to persuade India to let go of a gambling law that has been in place before the Internet even existed (it was passed in the 1800’s) and regulate the market instead.

This may surprise you, but the U.K. isn’t involving themselves here simply because they care about the Indian citizens who want to place bets online. There is also a self-serving interest at stake. The U.K. feels that if sports betting is regulated in countries where cricket is popular (such as India), the sport will be easier to control and more difficult to be corrupted. The gambling syndicates believed to be behind the cricket bribery scandal are believed to operate out of India.

I find it laughable that the government feels that they can put an end to corruption and that an industry is safer if the government has more control. Considering how corrupt governments – including in the U.K. – are and how many business scandals are caused by governments (and that’s just what we hear about), I’m not convinced. It’s true that if the online betting industry is underground it is more difficult for the government to police it. However, who says having the government doing the regulating makes it safer? I am all for legalizing online gambling, but it should be done in the name of freedom, not so the government can protect the people, since they always fail miserably at that task.

Though online gambling is illegal in India, it is estimated that they have a $250 million-per-year industry. Some of that money is spent on illegal operations in India, but the bulk of it is spent overseas, including in the U.K.

Casino tournaments at River Belle

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Earlier today I told you about the new slot tournaments at Platinum Play Casino as part of the International Slots League, but what if you’re not a Platinum Play member? What if you don’t like those slots? The good news is that if you like slot tournaments, there is no shortage of options. Take the regularly held tournaments at River Belle Casino, for example.

At River Belle, you can choose between a midweek tournament, a weekend tournament and a bigger week-long tournament. The first is the Midweek Moolah, which takes place over a two-day period during the week. That slot tournament has a $10,000 prize pool and rewards the top 19 players with prizes. The first-place finisher will win $2,000 and even the player who finishes 19th will walk away with $250. Not bad considering the entry fee is $15.

If you want to play in the tournaments over the weekend, River Belle Casino also regularly holds the Weekend Whopper tournaments. Those slot tournaments are the same as the Midweek Moolah, with a $10,000 prize pool and the top 19 players winning prizes. The difference is that this tournament is played on the weekend.

If you like your slot tournaments bigger, then there is the Monthly Monster. This is not a month-long tournament, as you might guess from the name. This tournament, which takes place every month (hence the name) is a week-long tournament. It begins on the final Monday of every month and runs for seven days. The Monthly Monster has a $25,000 prize pool and the top 25 players in the tournament will each get $1,000 as a prize. The tournament has a $25 entry fee and you can re-buy up to 5 times for $15 each.

To take part in the various slot tournaments held regularly at the casino, visit River Belle Casino.

Interstate online poker coming to U.S.

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

This seemed like crazy talk a few years ago, but online poker is coming to the United States. Tribal casinos in more than 30 states have joined together and the collaboration will result in the first interstate online poker network in America.

Atlantis Internet Group Corporation announced today that they signed a licensing deal with Cake Gaming NV that will open up online poker in the United States. The licensing agreement will allow tribal casinos to run online poker networks on their land. The Atlantis Internet Group Corp. will use their Tribal Gaming Network, which was approved by the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC).

This deal succeeds where Congress so far has failed. Many in Congress – most notably Barney Frank and Ron Paul – have been trying to get online gambling legislation passed, but it has stalled in the House after passing the Financial Services Committee and no bill with any support exists in the Senate. It seems increasingly unlikely that a repeal of UIGEA will happen this year. Since intrastate activity and activity on tribal casino is exempt from federal laws, the Tribal Gaming Network needs no such legislation.

The Atlantis Internet Group Corporation will run the only online poker network operating in more than one state. With it, anyone on tribal land can access the online poker network, existing on a Wide Area Progressive network (WAP) and play online poker against anyone else that is on the network.

Before UIGEA created a de facto ban on online gambling in the United States, America accounted for approximately two-thirds of the worldwide online gambling revenue. Losing that market meant online gambling operators losing a lot of money. The tribal online poker network will bring much-needed revenue to the tribes.

Donald L. Bailey, the CEO of the Atlantic Internet Group Corporation, said that the new system offers “an immediate and legal solution to Indian casinos nationwide, providing the largest online poker network in the U.S.” He also called the network a milestone and said that they will provide an “economic shot in the arm for tribes and states facing deficits nationwide.”

Superior Casino re-releases online slot

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

If you were a big fan of the For Love and Money slot at Superior Casino, you may have noticed that the online slot wasn’t there anymore. You were probably upset, maybe thinking Well, this casino doesn’t seem so superior anymore! They don’t even have my favorite game! If that’s the case then…well, you probably need to get out more, but who am I to judge? The good news is that the game has been upgraded and re-launched.

The For Love and Money slot is back and better than ever. The graphics and animations have been upgraded, making the game more visually appealing. The same storyline – a poet’s romantic tale of a medieval damsel in distress who falls in love with the prince who rescues her – remains intact. The story is just now told in a more interesting way.

For Love and Money is a 5-reel, 15-payline video slot. It has a 5,000-coin jackpot and you can bet on each payline using coins ranging from $0.01 to $0.50. The online slot also has a good number of bonuses, such as up to 10 free spins and a multiplier of up to three times your wager.

If you’re not familiar with the For Love and Money slot, then you can still play the new game and enjoy it. You won’t have the pleasure of seeing a new and improved presentation of the characters you already knew, but the game is also fun for a first-time player.

To play the revamped For Love and Money slot, visit Superior Casino.

Big Catch slot tournament at PartyCasino

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Perhaps as a way to get people living in the Northern Hemisphere to cope with the sweltering heat and remember our recent record-cold winter, PartyCasino has released a new online slot called Snow Business. To help celebrate the launch of the new game, the online casino is holding a promotion where you can win prize money while playing.

Snow Business is a 5-reel online slot which, as part of The Big One series, has a potentially huge progressive jackpot. The slot has an Antarctic theme, featuring symbols of penguins, polar bears and more. To celebrate its launch, PartyCasino is featuring it in the Big Catch tournament.

During the Big Catch tournament, players can play the online slot like normal, wagering and winning real money. In addition, every point you earn moves you up the leader board and brings you closer to winning prizes. The tournament has a $100,000 prize pool and the players who win the most money will take home prizes of up to $10,000 in casino credits.

In addition to the standard leader board promotion, PartyCasino is also running a pick-your-prize promotion. That part of the promotion has multiple prize levels and in each level, you can either take a prize or move up to the next level. For example, if you have between 500 and 3,000 points, you can either take a $50 cash bonus, which would take you back down to zero points (only in the pick-your-prize part of the promotion) or you can move on to the next prize level, which is from 3,001 points to 5,000 points. At that prize level, you can take a $150 cash prize, so if you can reach that level, it’s a better deal. You also get bonus points for opting to move to the next level rather than taking a prize.

To take part in The Big Catch slot tournament, visit PartyCasino.
