Online Casino Players in Another Boring Reality Show

I love online casinos and I love television. I also love puppies and milkshakes, but I don’t want a puppy milkshake and I sure as hell don’t want to watch people playing online casinos on television. Online gambling is fun because I am doing it. Over the Labor Day weekend I was at a barbeque where a game of horseshoes was set up. When I was playing, it was a lot of fun, when we let others play, I tried to watch, but got so bored that I fell asleep in the yard (from scotch). I feel the same way about casino games. Fun to play, dull to watch. However, some dumb dumbs in the online casino industry are getting together with more dumb dumbs in the television industry to create a new reality television show based around the world of online casinos.

The new online poker reality show will feature several top online casino gamers who will live in Las Vegas who will play for cash and other prizes, get tips from poker pros and of course (vomit) play for charity. It’s not the I have a problem with charity, it’s just that it’s so obvious that they play for charity to make gambling “moral and acceptable” to a wider audience. Which it already is because it is a game that people play for fun. Cameras will be set up in every room of the house, broadcasting everything they do 24-hours a day for the first week of November.

The players on Rounders House will keep video blogs throughout the week to further update viewers on what’s going on. Some would say that this is a good thing for online casinos, that further exposure will lead to widespread acceptance and understanding. I disagree. Online poker and online casinos are already growing in popularity and having Big Brother meets lonely online gambler will contribute just another boring reality show about boring people to the graveyard of other poker shows that have already (dis)graced television screens.

The show will be even worse considering that it will be broadcast 24 hours a day and feature “everything” they do, every minute of every day. So lucky viewers will be ACTUALLY get to see REAL online casino players REALLY staring at their computer screen and REALLY winning money! Snore. The reason any reality TV is interesting in the very least is because 1. It’s not real, the situations are set up and scripted and 2. Producers aggressively edit those programs to make even the slightest dramatic moment infinitely more dramatic than it actually is.

Online casino proponents continue to push the world of online gambling (poker in particular) in front of television cameras like an overzealous stage mom, regardless of interest. This new show goes a long way to prove that all creative heads in Hollywood have officially died off and the only people that remain are the empty-headed children, cousins, second cousins and nephews of producers and studio executives that nepotism favors. Just like that “Face the Ace” show, this one will tank. I can smell it from here.
