Visitors To Las Vegas Rise In April
Posted on: June 18th, 2010 5:38 pm | By: helenIt seems it seems that things within the heart of Las Vegas are not as bleak as many industry insiders had one speculated. Will the future for online casinos continues to claim a brightly, it has been a relatively rough year for the land based casino industry particularly in this gambling metropolis. Online casino gambling has surged ahead despite all the challenges faced through this seemingly endless economic recession.
The tourism agency that is in charge of promoting visits to Las Vegas has indicated that there was a small increase in visitors during the month of April compared to the same month for 2009. This is definitely some encouraging news. On the other hand, it is important to note that the tourism interest agency also indicated that Wal-Mart visitors came to sin city, they definitely spend less money on gambling activity.
At this point it is hard to determine just where that money is going instead. Are they using it to play from their own homes online casinos? Nearly 3.2 million visitors coming into Las Vegas during a month of April, gambling revenue for the county was down a full 6.1%. That number well off to just under $690 million. The decrease in gambling revenue was less than 1% down to $437 million. While the increase in visitors to Las Vegas shows a sign that we may be on the road to some sort of small but steady economic recovery, at this point it is too early. Everything that happens now is mere speculation. On a positive note, convention attendance was up 2.9%.
