With the recent decision to postpone the implementation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, many operators of online casinos are once again hopeful that good things are sure to come in the near future. It has been quite an ongoing crisis trying to get some proper online casino regulation and laws in place within the United States. While the stringent rules for the UIGEA were supposed to go into effect recently, various institutions placed a lot of pressure on the powers that be to make sure that this law did not go into effect as previously planned.

The law is set up to place the burden on financial institutions and assorted banks to stop processing all transactions that are in any way shape or form related to activity at online casinos. Even though it seems rather unfair and almost impossible to lay this level of responsibility on these financial institutions, that is exactly what was planned through the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.

But since the United States Department of Treasury and the Federal Reserve Board made the announcement that the implementation of the UIGEA will not end up taking place and going into effect until the month of June on 2010, there is still some time to come up with some alternative solutions in the meanwhile. This is no easy task and many courageous people such as Representative Barney Frank have been working hard to come up with different ideas and solutions so that internet casino gambling can be a profitable and positive business in America. But we still have a mighty long way to go.
