UIGEA Deadline Delayed 6 Months
Tuesday, December 8th, 2009With so many different things happening in the world of online casinos, it is hard to keep track of everything that is happening these days. But one thing is for sure, the online casino regulation effort within the United States is making substantial progress. One development that is evident of that notion is that the rules for enforcing the implementation of the terribly ineffective and misguided Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act have been pushed back by at least six full months. This comes as very welcome news for casino operators and players alike. Banking financial institutions are also quite pleased with this development since they were going to have to shoulder a huge portion of the responsibility to enforce these new requirements.
But still, the battle remains an uphill one for those who are leading the charge to get more legitimate access to online casinos for American players. If this delay had not taken place, it would have meant that all financial institutions across the nation of America would have had to stop processing transactions that are related in any way possible to online gambling.
The main problem is that this plan had no reasonable and sensible plan or strategy to make this enforcement possible and viable for those on who the blame would fall if things did not go according to plan. That is why Representative Barney Frank and a handful of others are working so hard to make sure that we have some rational legislation available for deciding how to control our nation’s collection of internet casinos. But there is still plenty of work that needs to be done.
