Saturday, January 24th, 2009

A recent partnership has been initiated within the world of online casinos. This time it is between the highly regarded gaming company Betsafe and OnGame, an operation based out of Australia that is devoted to casino and poker. In the past, Betsafe has belonged underneath the Cryptologic umbrella. They had a good thing going for more than two years, but recently the people in charge at Betsafe decided to choose another path into the future. They considered many different options but as soon as the idea of partnering with OnGame came to their table, it was a done deal.

OnGame has had a huge amount of success in the field of online casinos. You may recognize some of the names of casino and poker rooms that belong to their network like Red Kings, Hollywood Poker and Poker Room just to name a few.  The higher-ups over at Betsafe were immediately drawn to the virtues of OnGame Network because of the wonderful reputation they had built up over the years for delivering stellar tournaments, tempting promotional deals and some phenomenal software to boot.

The people at Betsafe had determined that through a relationship with OnGame Network, that would surely put them right in the position they wanted to be in to gain a better hold within the highly competitive online casino market. Betsafe has worked hard to establish themselves in the world of casino and poker sites on the Internet and this next step will help take them to where they want to be.

Churchill Downs Starts Up Online Gambling Subsidiary

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

A new era seems to have begun in the gambling world within the state of Kentucky but this time the tables have turned and it appears as though the shift will include a new focus on online gambling. He company Churchill Downs has recently announced that they will be developing a subsidiary that will have an emphasis on the highly lucrative Internet gambling scene. As a company that has made quite a mark on a very competitive and relatively exclusive industry, it seems like a natural progression to focus on racing, entertainment, gaming and now specifically online gaming.

This brand new subsidiary that will be created b Churchill Downs is going to have a man named Steven Sexton placed at the helm of a potentially very lucrative ship. Sexton also currently serves as the racetrack president for Churchill Downs. Beyond just his role as head of the online gambling subsidiary, Sexton will also pay close attention to regular casino gambling and the various concerts and other entertainment events that take place at Churchill Downs.

This exciting news was surely met with gloom by the Kentucky governor Steve Beshear who has been doing everything in his power to bring down the online gambling industry within the state of Kentucky. This will be regarded as quite an overwhelming setback. Beshear has long lectured as to the woes and inherent evils that online gambling can incite, especially the threat that the industry potentially has over the bright young people of Kentucky. There are seen as particularly vulnerable to the terrible vice of online gambling.

Huge Numbers Of Underage People Permitted To Bet On UK Gambling Sites

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

An alarming fact has recently been uncovered in regard to underage gambling. As many as one third of all online gambling websites apparently permit people who are under the age of 18 to play on their sites and bet. Through an official Gambling Commission investigation, it was discovered that more than 33% of all online casinos and bookmakers had easily surmountable hoops and loopholes that young people could bypass in order to get their gambling fix online. Through the Gambling Act that came into being back in 2007, a company or online casino operator that is in possession of an online gaming license in the United Kingdom is required to comply with very strict checks and balances to ensure that all underage gambling is prevented to the greatest extent possible.

Approximately 164 different companies are allowed to run some 250 websites online. The numbers uncovered by the commission were determined by analyzing debit cards that belong to people who are under the age of 18. This data was used to decipher whether sites did indeed contain loopholes that allowed young people to conquer the barriers in place and succeed in placing bets online. If they were not weeded out through some sort of age-vetting process, there is something terribly wrong with the system and this will be a defining issue for the industry to confront in the coming years.

Politicians point to the results of this investigation as a huge danger for the young people of the country  and this means that the risk for underage gambling addiction is bigger than anyone had previously thought. The safeguards put in place by the government have obviously not been enough to curb this very serious problem.

Consider The Magic Of Online Roulette

Monday, January 5th, 2009

If you love a good game of roulette in a land-based casino, why wait any longer? Get in a fabulous game of online roulette. The rules are exactly the same as they are for the land-based version of the popular but often overlooked game. Players end up playing against the house or the dealer. The wheel of European roulette -  which is also known in some circles as French roulette – is set up with 37 slots. Those 37 slots include 36 numbers and one zero. If you choose to play America roulette, there will be two zeros and 38 slots.

Every player involved in the game will possess chips that are a different color to avoid getting them all mixed up in the course of the game. And the chips will have their own online training courses printed on them. All you have to do is put your bets down on numbers in the table layout on the outside. Then the roulette wheel will begin spinning and spinning as the small ball spins around the wheel in the opposite direction. It is just like how it appears on all of those fancy gambling movies. But this time the chance to win big will be yours.

Right before the ball drops down onto the wheel, the dealer will no longer collect any bets on the game. As soon as the dealer places the dolly on the winning number on the roulette table and takes away any of the losing bets, then new bets will once again be permitted. The winners end up being the people who have bets on or near the number that comes up as the winner.

Al-Qaeda Uses Online Gambling Sites To Launder Money

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

With all of the aftermath in the wake of the UIGEA still felt throughout the online gambling industry on a daily basis, one would think that the struggling economy and the threat of harsh and unenforceable regulations would be enough for us all to worry about. But, alas, there is now something new to add to the stew of frets and foes. In a recent report, it was indicated that, despite the safety of the world of Internet gambling in areas of the world where it is well regulated, apparently there are reasons to believe that al-Qaeda terrorists are using online gambling sites to launder money for their various operations.

An organization called Jane’s Intelligence Group has come out with the report which mentions that al-Qaeda has make substantial progress in bringing a technological edge to their efforts by fully incorporating the internet into their dastardly schemes. The terrorists indicated in the report have apparently set up online universities. Potential members of the terrorist organization can, through the guise of these online universities, obtain their military training without necessitating a need to travel into the country of Pakistan.

According to the details of the report, the internet is being used by the group in a variety of different ways. One of the main methods of their use of the internet involves using online gambling sites to launder sums of money to fund their endeavors. In effect, the organization is trying to build up and establish a university that is devoted to jihad in both a spiritual sense and a financial sense.

Online Site Zosoz.com Calls It A Day

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

As the economy continues on its deep, dark downward spiral into a black hole abyss, many companies and different sites within the online casino and gambling community have taken a hit. And sadly, some operations have been hit so hard that they no have no hopes of being able to recover even if things were to pick back up tomorrow.

One of the sites that has fallen by the wayside and has been forced to go down this depressing road is Zosoz.com. This website was built up around the notion that involved players paying a subscription fee so they would essentially buy in to their playing. For just $19.99, players could sign up for the awesome atmosphere at Zosoz.com. Doing so would give them the chance to play in some fabulous high stakes poker tournaments all during the year.

While the idea was at first embraced by the industry for being innovative and almost regarded as a sure thing that couldn’t possibly fail, the site has recently called it quits and shit down for good. Unfortunately, the idea that was lauded for being inventive and a little bit different did not gain the level of popularity that everyone had previously predicted. And it was only up and running for two short months before it met its end.

The people responsible for the site unfortunately did not end up giving any sort of reason as to why they had decided to leave the online gambling market so suddenly. Luckily for the people who had signed up for memberships, the people at Zosoz.com promised that all players who had paid for a subscription would receive a refund for their memberships.

Their latest venture revolves around a foray into the wonderful and exciting world of online sports betting. After deciding to team up with Victor Chandler International Group, the fine people at GigaMedia have decided to launch Everest Bets. This new endeavor is regarded as the final piece to the puzzle that will give the company the extra power and presence it needs to expand their empire and command a huge force within the industry.

GigaMedia has already worked hard to become a big recognizable figure in the realm of online poker with the help of Everest Poker and some other assorted internet casino offerings. There are several other big name sin the industry that GigaMedia’s new project will be up against like such powerful operations as NetEase.com and Shanda Interactive. As far as delivering the best of big-time multiple player fantasy games in which seemingly countless players are playing and interacting in the exact same game at the exact same time, these companies are known for having some of the best around.

With GigaMedia’s more recent efforts, they are going to move into position to develop a presence that rivals Cryptologic in many ways. While getting involved in some online gambling online is not looked upon in a positive light in our country, the industry is taking off like crazy in many parts of Europe and throughout Asia.  GigaMedia hasn’t been delivering too well for their shareholders lately but hopefully things will pick up soon.

Shady Deals at Ultimate Bet Taken Into Question

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

After the “60 Minutes” special dedicated to cheating scandals that features the popular online poker rooms Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet, the sites have been trying hard to regain their place in the online gaming market. They have been going to great lengths to assure their loyal players that any problems that may have occurred in the past have been resolved. They went so far as to form the Cereus Poker Network to work along with the Kahnawake Gaming Commission to fix the situation. But, alas, now it appears that brand new allegations have risen to the surface against Ultimate Bet.

This past weekend, a hand that was played online resulted in the player who lost the hand getting awarded the pot instead of the true winner. Scandal! As soon as the officials at the Ultimate Bet forum were made aware of the situation, the moderator deemed the incident a “software glitch” and promised that it would be looked into.

Reprints of the hand in question show that the losing player who ended up with the pot was poker legend and Ultimate Bet spokesman Phil Hellmuth. To complicate matters further, the hand was played in a very unusual way. Doubleballer, Hellmuth’s opponent in the game had the king of diamonds and the queen of hearts in his hand. And then the flop came out king-king-jack, rainbow. Doubleballer raised before the turn and the river and then Hellmuth went and called. He saw a two and a nine that left him without any flush possibilities. Doubleballer bet on his three kings at the showdown. The Hellmuth mucked after he called. But he ended up with the cash prize instead of Doubleballer. Glitches like these are coming up more and more on Ultimate Bet.
