Germany Casino Gambling Ban Flops

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

It appears that it is not so easy for a country to execute an all-out ban of online casinos and internet gambling. This was just proved recently in the nation of Germany. Apparently, a new study that examines online casino gambling activity with the nation of Germany found that the ban that the government tried to install when it comes to casino activity has not been effective. This sounds vaguely familiar to me. Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, anyone?

It seems that even after the German government moved to put the lock down on German online casinos, more than two million German people are still inclined to go ahead and visit and place wagers at internet casino gambling sites. With the news of this recent study and report, it seems that the government may be in the process of changing their tune in how they want to treat this particular societal issue. They have indicated now that they plan on throwing out the casino gambling ban as soon as the treaty it is connected will expire come 2010. This is good news for anyone who has been concerned about the gambling laws in Germany.

This is also a telling development that many governments casino operators and gamers alike can learn from for the future. Sometimes it is futile to try to prevent people from taking part in their favorite pastime. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for internet gambling legalities in the country of Germany for the future. For right now, I guess people will simply continue to ignore the ban that is in place.
