Self-Regulated Casinos In Europe?

Friday, February 25th, 2011

In the industry devoted to online casinos, there have been a number of updates and developments taking place in all corners of the globe. One particular region where they have been super active and intent on revising their stance toward online casino gambling has been the region of Europe. They have been focusing on ways to enforce and encourage responsible gambling activity. Legislators have been pushing to be for the liberalization of Internet gambling in their particular jurisdictions. Industry insiders have claimed that they are working on their own to be a part of and forcing high standards of conduct among operators and players alike.

It seems that the European Gaming and Betting Association has recently issued a report detailing the new self regulatory measures that have been put in place and will soon be adopted throughout the entire industry. The goal is for these regulatory measures to become the industry standard as we move into the future. It will be interesting to see how legislators react to the performance and the efficiency of these particular self regulatory measures. Will they be satisfied?

For now, all we can do is observe the opportunities and incidents that are taking place at online casinos. How are gambling sites being held accountable for the quality and safety and reliability that they are supposed to be supplying to their customers? The goal is to protect the privacy of customers and to prevent underage gambling among many other goals. They are hoping that all industry operations will adopt safe and secure and high quality practices to protect their most vulnerable players and to demonstrate their commitment to ethical and responsible marketing so that customer satisfaction and support will be guaranteed at all levels.

Harrahs Heads To European Market

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Although it has been remarkably rough going for many land-based casino businesses within Las Vegas for the past several months, there are some new developments for some Las Vegas companies that are sure to surprise many people. For example, it seems that although MGM had previously attempted to tap into the highly lucrative market of online casinos and failed, Harrah’s Entertainment has decided to throw its flag into the online casino ring. This will be a very interesting business venture to watch develop. Anything could happen.

Harrah’s has experienced a tremendous amount of success in the realm of land-based casino operations, so really there is every reason to believe that they have a decent shot of succeeding in the American market of online casinos as well. However, there is one particularly crucial hurdle to clear and that is the fact that online casino gambling is still not exactly legal within the United States. To skirt this issue, at least temporarily, Harrah’s has plans to give it a try in the European market where the rules for regulation are somewhat more freeform and relaxed compared to what is happening stateside.

Many casino operators have had a huge amount of success by launching a casino or bingo site that is specifically designed to take on the European market. Bingo halls especially are catching on like wildfire and there seems to be no stopping the booming internet gambling market in this region of the world. For this reason, it seems like Harrah’s has a good shot at making big things happen. And then, by the time business is booming in Europe, perhaps then America will finally have adopted some reasonable and logical gambling legislation to drive the industry into the future in a rational and positive way.
