Revenues Weak For Nevada Gambling
Monday, June 13th, 2011As we continue to plow our way through this week and seemingly endless economic recession, things are still not picking up in any major and substantial and lasting way when it comes to the gambling revenue for land based casinos located within the state of Nevada. As online casinos continue to charge ahead and increase in value and revenue levels, the same cannot be said for Las Vegas gambling operations.
It seems that the Nevada Gaming Control Board recently indicated that the state white gambling revenues were hovering around $806 million for the month of April. That is definitely not good considering the fact that that figure was set at hundred $810 million for April 2010. That signifies a drop of less than 1%. Online casino industry insiders have indicated that the taxes were up despite revenue being down and that is due to an increase of credit play and collections from previous months.
All in all, these indications do not pose any super hopeful outcomes for land based casino operations in the state of Nevada and particularly in Las Vegas. Players lose money gambling on casino credit, casinos will tally monthly revenue but then it won’t be taxed until the winnings are actually collected. This is important to note when we examine different figures on monthly revenue for gambling business. There was a double-digit did dump jump during the month of March this year, overall Las Vegas casino winnings were down 2.2%. Hopefully, the land-based casino industry in this state can capture some of the interest and momentum the industry of online casinos has been able to employ with so much effectiveness.
