But, things are definitely picking up speed a little bit in terms of the land based casino revenue that is being generated in the heart of Nevada.

Although the level of success is nowhere near the awesome accomplishment of the online casino business realm, things are still very encouraging. For now, all we can do is speculate about the future, but things are picking up and everyone is calm and hopeful and cautiously optimistic that they will be able to continue with minimal success at achieving the last several months in the Nevada casino gambling community.

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

As the business of online casinos moves ahead and shows a remark level of success and resiliency in this bleak in seemingly endless economic recession, the road has been a little bit more challenging for casinos located within the state of Nevada. But, over the course of the summer, it seems that the business has begun to pick up, at least a little bit. This is definitely encouraging. It seems that news agency reported earlier this week that over the month of July, land based casino operations within the state of Nevada experienced a 3.7% gain compared with the same month of 2010.

This is definitely very encouraging news for all of the operators of the online casino gambling site and land based casinos throughout the nation.
Anyone Nevada casinos have definitely been taking some hits in terms of loss of revenue over the course of the last several years due to this challenging financial climate. After many tragic and double digit declines that they have experienced in recent years as a result of the economic recession, this is definitely something positive that everybody is trying to focus on.

Compared to the performances of online casinos, land based casinos are still not moving super rapid pace, but it is encouraging to note that Las Vegas land-based casinos recorded a 1.6 improvement in winnings posting their value up to 490 $469 million. That is a substantial chunk of change and it certainly something that will be bringing in either an avid gamblers for some time to come. Hopefully, casinos in the state of Nevada will be able to sustain this level of success to a certain degree as we move into the remaining months of 2011.

Singapore Gambling Revenue Surges

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

For years and years and years, it has been expected scenario for Las Vegas to be at the forefront of leading revenue figures in terms of land based casino operations. Obviously, with the increasing popularity of online casinos and Internet gambling activity, they have lost a little bit of their edge in the overall gambling business.

But online casino players still crave something that is authentic and real the only land-based casino gambling operations can offer. But Las Vegas used to be the go to name in terms of dominating this particular business. Now, it seems that the island nation of Macau has overtaken Las Vegas and now there is another top contender to take Las Vegas out of it highly coveted second place position and that is the nation of Singapore.

More and more, the industry devoted to land-based gambling is becoming a huge force in the Asian region of the world. They have definitely come a long way in terms of their presence of online casinos, but for land-based gambling experiences, this is now one of the go to destinations throughout the entire world. This is something that should definitely give casino operators in Las Vegas a little bit of concern.

It seems that the revenue from the land-based casinos located in Singapore are coming up with some truly phenomenal figures and it seems that the predictions for the revenue that could be generated in Las Vegas for 2011 are just not going to meet the demands that their rivals are posting so far. For now, all we can do is speculate about what the future will bring. Hopefully Las Vegas will be able to stay the course and hold onto its position.

November Revenue Poor For Nevada

Monday, January 17th, 2011

Although many people had been raising their hopes in regard to the future of Las Vegas casinos and other casino gambling businesses located throughout the state of Nevada, it seems that the most recently released reports dating back to November of 2010 show a disappointing development.

With the increasing competition posed by online casinos and rival state gambling opportunities, things have been pretty rough when it comes to revenue numbers for land based casino operations in the state of Nevada. Online casino businesses have not taken very much of a hit during seemingly bleak and endless economic recession that we are mired in across America. But the same cannot be said for land based casinos in Las Vegas and Nevada.

It seems that according to the November 2010 statistics for land-based gambling in Nevada, there was a 5.9% decline in revenue. This may seem like the most surefire way to slice through all of the tentative hopes that people had begun to grow in our hearts over the state of gambling for this region. Online casinos, on the other hand continued to thrive and move forward with developing as a huge and monstrously successful industry.

It seems that the Nevada Gaming Control Board has indicated that the state of Nevada was able to collect nearly $49.8 million in taxes from casino gambling revenue for the month of November. That may seem like a lot, but that is not very much considering that that is down 12.7% from just one year ago. This means that we are not moving anywhere closer to a swift and steady economic recovery. The predictions for positive growth has proven to be false so far.

Station Casinos Inc. Experiences Decline

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

While the industry of online casinos continues to gallop ahead into the sunset, the same cannot be said for land-based gambling operations such as those located within Las Vegas. Most recently, one of the top gaming leaders in the heart of Las Vegas, Station Casinos Inc., announced that their second-quarter loss in revenue increased by a substantial amount.

This revenue decline is directly related to the Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization that came about at a price tag of just about $38 million. This is definitely a hard road for many land-based gambling operators to go down and Station casinos has definitely not managed to stay immune to these financial woes. In addition to the bankruptcy reorganization for Station, the intense competition posed by online Casino gambling sites has definitely played a major role as well.

Sometimes it is just simply too difficult of a task for land-based casino operators to be able to compete on the same level with operators of online casinos. From this quarter, Station reportedly lost an astonishingly bleak $69.6 million. That’s nearly 4,000,000 more than the company lost back in the second quarter of 2009.

Overall, net revenue dropped 12.6%. Many people within the gambling industry looked toward recession as one of the main contributing factors for these tough financial scenarios. Everybody’s trying to figure out when and where and how S. solid and feasible economic recovery is going to take place. Sometimes, when we get news like this, it still feels a long ways off. Hope fully the 18 Las Vegas area casinos, restaurants, entertainment venues, and hotels associated with this company will be able to get back on track sometime in the near future.

Visitors Decline In Las Vegas

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

While the industry of online casinos has been moving along at a rapid and highly profitable pace, the same cannot be said for the land based casinos that are found in the heart of Las Vegas. We the online casino business taking some of the business away from one of the hottest gambling destinations in the entire world, they have definitely fallen on hard times. Most recently the Las Vegas convention and visitors Authority conducted a profile research investigation. This study showed that the average gambler budgeted right around $481 per trip last year. That same figure was set at $532 just back in 2008. And going all the way back to 2007, that same number was set at $555. That figure definitely isn’t going in the right direction for Las Vegas casinos and hotels. Business is definitely not been booming in this Las Vegas gambling destination city.

Across-the-board, land based casino profits have just been sliding down and down as the current economic recession continues. While online casinos have been able to remain relatively immune from this financial trouble, the same is not the case for Las Vegas casinos. Hotel spending has been down 25%. With research and studies conducted involving on the street interviews, 15% indicated that they came to Las Vegas in order to visit friends and relatives. That number is actually up from 11% that was registered in 2008.

While this would seem to be positive news, most of the time these visitors are known to spend much less than those are in town with the main goal of gambling or attending business meetings and conventions. It is important to look at the motivation for visiting Las Vegas and not just the numbers them selves sometimes because they tell a truer story that is more realistic.

Las Vegas Visitor Numbers Decrease

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

With a huge strides that have been made in the market devoted to online casinos, land based casino operations are definitely not faring as well. Given the fact that many industries have taken hard hits and then nearly shut down thanks to this blistering and dismal economic recession that seems like it will never and, many businesses that have been relatively immune to difficult financial times are now facing some adverse scenarios. Most recently the walk the Las Vegas convention and visitors Authority reported that their latest research detailing the visitor profiles has indicated that the average gambler budgeted $481 for each trip last year. That figure when compared to 2008 when it was set at $532 is a rather bleak.

It seems that online casinos have broad land based casinos of a great portion of their business. Online casino gambling offers flexibility and comfort that land based casinos cannot hope to mimic in any way shape or form. Conventioneers and business visitors who are known for being big spenders and high rollers accounted for a mere 9% of Las Vegas visitors over the course of 2009. That figure is has sunk down 12% since 2008.

Only 13% of the respondents for this profile research indicated that they were went to Las Vegas specifically to gamble at casinos. While this profile research investigation did not really take into account the implications of the increase in business for online casino gambling, that is one of the main factors that has led to this drop in business in addition to the current terrible financial situation that is playing the nation.

Big ‘09 Fiscal Losses In Vegas

Friday, February 26th, 2010

While the industry of online casinos marches forward at a healthy pace, the casinos within the state of Nevada are not faring quite so well. For the second time in history, casinos within the state of Nevada posted a loss. And this time around the lost was super substantial. Online casino sites have managed to come through the current economic recession and financial crisis relatively unscathed, but the same cannot be said for the land based casinos within the state of Nevada. Just recently the gaming control Board releases dated report for the fiscal year of 2009 that indicate a net loss of $6.7 billion for the 260 biggest casino operations in Nevada. This comes as a staggering blow to an already fragile state economy that has seen better days in the past.

While online casinos have, for the most part, derived, the same cannot be said of the land based casinos located within the state of Nevada. The president of the Nevada resort Association described 2010 as a program this year for many of the casinos located with in the city of Las Vegas.

One of the ways that some of the casinos have been dealing with the financial setbacks has been to move forward with as many as three or four waves of layoffs. Layoffs are seen as one of the main effective ways that remains for cutting costs. The hope at this point is that the layoffs will be temporary until the nationally and locally economy is able to push forward into some sort of semblance of a recovery. But that may still be a long ways off. The one place where sales did not decrease was in the sale of liquor. Sales for our all apparently increased by 2.5% even as revenue associated with casinos, hotels and restaurants sunk.

Numbers Down In Las Vegas

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Casino winnings-related revenue within the state of Nevada are down 13.7% for the 2009 fiscal year so far. This does not bode well for the many different related business on the Strip and for all the thousands of employees who are hanging onto their jobs by a string. The casino winnings so far are down in Las Vegas to somewhere just below $10 billion, and while that seems like a lot of money, compared to what the land-based casinos in this town are typically capable of, this is not too good. And this blow hits especially hard since it seems as though there is still no stopping the rise and total domination of online casinos across the country despite all of the legal ramifications (ineffective though they may be) that are in place. Online casino sites continue to surge ahead of their land-based counterparts in a big, big way.

And the people who run things in Las Vegas have been doing seemingly everything in their power to push for different ways to bring back some of those players and of course some of that missing revenue from the grip of online casinos but it has proven to be quite a bit harder than it seems.

Gamblers are still making plenty of wagers down in Las Vegas casinos, especially when it comes to hitting the slot machines, but the numbers are still just not what they should be at this time of year. It is the summer season and business should be charging ahead and going strong and at full blast but that is just not the case. Who knows what will happen come the fall season. You can bet that casino operators will be doing their darnedest to bring in more numbers with exciting events, but it may not come together as they would like. The economy is not helping the matter at all.

Even In Diversified Mode, Las Vegas Experiences Slump

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

In recent year, Las Vegas has tried in countless ways to expand their attractions to make the strip more widely marketable as a destination not just for people who want to test their luck in gambling but also as a destination for families. They have done this by adding features such as top of the line retail centers, deluxe spas, celebrity chefs, marquee shows like Cirque du Soleil and excellent golfing. They have succeeded in bringing in a more diverse clientele who are looking to spend their disposable income on more than just slot machines or poker games.

While the efforts of Las Vegas in making their revenue model less dependent on gambling have found success, it has also made the city more vulnerable to recession and times of extreme economic hardship. Last year, the non-gaming revenue for Las Vegas casinos was 52.1% of the total amassed as opposed to 44.3% that they had ten years ago.

But this increase in other revenue has made the exuberant wealth and luxurious pull of escapism of Las Vegas not quite as impermeable to the highs and lows of the national financial situation. Unlike blackjack or slot machine games, their new and improved economic model has itself wrapped up in long-term fixed costs that are not reconfigured with ease to respond fast to demand.

Overall, the city’s numbers are not looking so hot. Visitor volume has been falling in recent years. And gaming revenue along the strip has gone down 7% in the past year. Additionally, convention attendance has sunk by 22% and occupancy levels have dropped 3%, even though they average daily room rate has been reduced by more than15%.
