Casino Slots Are Most Addictive

Friday, February 26th, 2010

It seems that gambling studies within the nation of Canada are employing some very high attack methods to determine certain rationales for why certain machines at online casinos are so incredibly powerfully addictive. Researchers in Ottawa are using virtual reality to determine just why slot machines in particular are so incredibly addictive. Gambling problems come up as many as four times more quickly for players who go for the glory at casino slot games as opposed to other games found in casino rounds. One interesting aspect about this particular study is that there was no distinction made between online and land-based casino gambling activity.

The aim for these researchers is to try to determine why people start gambling and why many choose to continue even though they have to confront many negative consequences such as developing addictions, losing money, or isolating themselves from their friends and family members. The fans of online casinos love their slot gaming. That is for sure.

Slot games in particular are incredibly intense and fast pace. You can lose an awful lot of money in a relatively short period of time just as you can also win an astonishing quantity of cash over a relatively short period of time as well. This makes this particular style of gambling particularly attractive to people who are pressed for time or crave some intensity and their gambling pursuits. It’ll be interesting to see what sort of impact this particular study has on the industry of Internet casinos for the future.

Study Shows Video Game Addiction Is Serious

Monday, April 27th, 2009

A study was recently released that contained alarming data that revealed that a huge number of children are addicted to playing video games. This study originally was designed using the criteria that are typically employed for diagnosing compulsive gambling. According the findings that came about from the study done by a professor from Iowa State University, as much as ten percent of the youth in America show addictive tendencies in regard to playing video games. That is a rate that is incredibly five times more than the percentages that come in for adults who are addicted to online casinos and gambling.

This is truly alarming news and one that may somehow end up having a negative impact on the industry of online casinos if the anti-gambling politicians have their way. They are always looking for new data that supports their claims that online casino gambling is a horrible thing for the moral and health of the nation. Basing the study off the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual that is used by psychologists to help catalogue disorders, the professor discovered that about 8.5% of children show somewhere around six of the eleven possible symptoms that are indicative of addictive behavior. Some of these symptoms include theft, attention problems, excessive time spent on gaming, bad health and poor grades.

And everyone agrees that the results from this study confirm other evidence out there from other research that indicates that addiction can be related to Internet activities in general as well as for Internet casinos and gambling or another specific behavior. Some studies have come out that show that Internet addiction can occur at social networking sites or in the process of shopping online. This sort of thing is just as common as addition to Internet casinos.
