Partner Company Sues MGM Mirage

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

It seems that more ad news just recently came in for the people of MGM Mirage in Las Vegas. Now a property developer called Dubai World and its subsidiary Infinity World is apparently suing the company in the Delaware Chancery Court for supposedly committing abreach of their joint-venture agreement. The two businesses had put a project they had both been working on had been put at risk by MGM. Infinity World has been one of the main partners with MGM Mirage in terms of developing the vast and incredibly expensive City Center project. The City Center project is one of the largest undertakings in big developments on the Las Vegas strip in many years. The originally estimated budget has been bumped up substantially time and time again

City Center has been highly touted for being the next big thing for the city of sin. It is a huge luxury resort, residential and retail complex that was developed by MGM and a small select number of other contributing financial partners. It covers a whopping 67 acres between the Monte Carlo and the Bellagio.

This is the sort of debacle that online casinos have a very easy time avoiding. Land-based casinos more and more are having an increasingly difficult time attracting enough visitors to keep their revenue numbers up. Online casinos, on the other hand, have not had this problem. Despite the sad and weary economy, the online casino business have flourished. The same cannot be said for many of the casinos in Las Vegas. So far the City Center project has cost a staggering $8.6 billion.

CityCenter Project in Las Vegas Brings A New Tide of Optimism

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Everyone in Las Vegas and beyond looks on with excitement pumping through their veins at the almost finished construction of the massive CityCenter hotel and casino in Las Vegas. Unfortunately the number onf new jobs the project officials originally reported, 12,000, is not exactly accurate. More than half of those jobs reported are actually going to be filled by employees who are already working at existing MGM properties. So in reality, only aout 6,000 new jobs will have been created by this $9.1 billion project.

The new positions will consist of food and beverage handlers, hotel operations positions, retail management jobs, and other positions that fall into the finance, human resources, facilities, entertainment and securities job categories. Interviews will be conducted with current MGM employees in early February while outside hires will begin the interview process sometime later on in April.

The company plans to provide all employees with a very solid and generous compensation and benefits package that will include the employee’s choice of healthcare covergae choices and an assortment of retirement savings plans. Residents of Las Vegas have watched the 3-year CityCenter project very closely. Granted, it was pretty hard to miss since it is so unbelievably huge. Many people have choked back their fears that this project could at any moment run out of money and sit in an unfinished lump just taking up space. Many other projects in the city have met such a fate due to the difficult economic situation that continues to grip the nation and many parts of the rest of the world.

People of Las Vegas Await The Opening Of CityCenter

Friday, January 9th, 2009

The enorous CityCenter hotel and casino project in Las Vegas is nearly finished and its structure is designed to tower over the entire strip. Everyone is hoping that with this brand new venue will come a thrilling jolt and in the end a total economic recovery for a city that has definitely seen etter days. This pleasuretropolis will cover some 1.5 million square meters. The htoel will have about 4,800 different rooms, 2,650 flats and a whopping 7,500 parking spaced. There will also be a luxurious 50,000 suare meter retail and entertainment area.

The whole project was designed by five famous architects including Cesar Pelli, Rafael Vinoly, Helmut Jahn, Norman Foster ad Daniel Libeskind. The project, given the nickname the “city within a city,” has been the recipient of some recent criticism, however. Some people point to the structure as the ultimate symbol of out national credit crisis.  Inherent in its premise is the idea tha American consumers have an infinite spending capacity that will go on forever and ever.

Nonetheless, everyone associated with the project is very very pleased with how it is turning out and they are all excited to see how the project will be received by Las Vegas visitors. CityCenter was funded by MGM Mirage and Infinity World Development, a subsidiary of the Dubai government. The people in charge of the project are excited to be able to open up 12,000 jobs in an area that is very much in need of solid and dependable employment. By the time spring rolls around, the new positions will be advertised at a variety of hotels after applicants are able to post their resumes and applications online.

CityCenter To Bring Thousands of New Jobs To Las Vegas

Friday, January 9th, 2009

While we all seem to have gotten caught up in all of the doomsday reporting about the state of our economy, there is a light at the end of the tunnel in the form of sin and scandal. Although many people in the United States are focused on the woes of staggering unemployment rates, shady bailouts and bankruptcies occurring right and left, the Las Vegas leisure market is apparently up and running smooth as ever. With the glitz and glamour that rang in the New Year of 2009 in the city of bright lights and high-rollers, the real boost of goodwill comes as the CityCenter hotel and casino project is about to reach completion. This will mean great things for all the people in Las Vegas who have recently found themselves out of work or severely underemployed.

The CityCenter project has the distinct honor of being regarded as the most expensive project of its kind in the entire history of the United States. Its total cost is more than $9.1 billion and they recently announced the start of their application process that will involve creating some 12,000 brand new jobs. If that doesn’t give a jumpstart to this year’s economy, then I don’t know what else will.

Applicants who are chosen will report to work at the enormous steel and glass structure before the end of the year. While the city known for its degree of sin has been in the middle of its worst economic scenario since the early 180s, with a 22% statewide decline in gambling revenue, he project is continuing to move forward.
