Barney Frank Gets Re-Elected

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Although many people were incredibly disturbed by the outcomes from the reset election is held second, not all is lost. For fans and operators of online casinos, many people have been down in the dumps and a little bit depressed due to the poor showings among Democratic candidates. In general, the credit candidates have been more in favor of helping the progressive and liberal a stance like comes to online casino gambling policies within the United States. Since so many Republican candidates were able to claim victory in this most recent election, many people have been worrying about the future prospects for Internet gambling laws in America.

What is porting to note that two key figures in the battle future of online casinos in the United States have managed to hold on to their seats. For starters, we still have Rep. Barney Frank, known as the Internet gambling advocacy politician in America, is one his Massachusetts seat ultra beat his Republican opponent by a large margin of votes. With this win, players can take part of that it will still have someone working on their behalf to push for a better and more logical approach to regulating and taxing and licensing Internet casino operations in America.

Congressman Barney Frank has been a part of the House of Representatives for the past three decades and he has been an instrumental figure in bringing attention to the potential revenue that could be earned through legalizing online casino gambling. In addition he has been active on a number of other important issues such as cracking down on mortgage and credit card abuses and developing independent consumer protection systems.

Amendments Added To Casino Bill

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Just a few short days ago, Rep. Barney Frank finally had his day to be heard in Congress when the house and finances services committee passed Frank’s measure. The proposal that Frank brought to the table involved the regulation and licensing for online casinos in the United States. Although Frank has come up against much intense criticism and obstacles throughout his fight for getting this legislation passed for online casino gambling, now it seems that progress is being made and the momentum is finally on his side.

Many different politicians stepped into introduced several amendments to the original proposal and those were debated by several members of the committee. In the end, several of these amendments that have been proposed to supplement the gambling legislation were added into the mix.

One of the claims by one of the congressmen indicated that there should be a clause specifying that all sports betting including sports betting that takes place at online casinos is still illegal. It’ll be interesting to see how much this particular addition to the proposed piece of legislation will be taken into account when gamblers and sports betting fans go to their favorite online sites and try to play their hearts out and go for the glory.

This bill would effectively repeal all of the efforts set in place by the UIGEA. This comes as a major boost for the future of online casinos and gambling in America. It will be interesting to see how far Frank can progress from this point in time. The action is definitely heating up at this point in time.

Gambling Bill Passes Through Committee

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

While the victories for reform of online casinos within the United
States have been few and far but trained, Congressman Barney Frank and
number of other key individuals fighting for this cause have recently
had cause to celebrate. Frank’s proposal to legalize online casino
gambling in America has successfully passed through committee in
Congress. This is really brought this movement to the forefront of
mainstream media coverage. Many people try to paint this issue as a
simple black and white struggle. People are either for gambling access
or against it using it as some sort of evil entity that will corrupt
the youth and exacerbate situations involving gambling addiction.

Other people on the other side of the coin advocate for a more liberal
stance when it comes to gambling policies for online casinos. Also,
people are looking at Internet gambling revenue in America as a way to
generate revenue to help boost our nation out of this dreary and
seemingly endless economic recession. The champions of individual
rights definitely hope for broad change to occur when it comes to
Internet gambling access.

Other people who are against gambling access claim that this
development signals a sign of the apocalypse. It will be digesting to
see in the coming months and weeks in years ahead of us who is correct
in their prediction. For now, it is a matter of waiting for more
progress to be made. The struggle to change policies governing
internet casino gambling activity in America continue. Barney Frank’s
work is seemingly never done. It will be fascinating to see what comes
next.

Frank’s Casino Bill Date Postponed

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Everything was supposed to finally come together when Rep. Barney Frank’s bill for regulating online casinos in America would finally be heard before Congress on Friday, April 16. The hearing before the House Financial Services Committee was scheduled for that date in the long-awaited moment in the spotlight for Frank’s online casino bill has apparently been postponed. Apparently Frank had a scheduling conflict and the hearing time needed to be adjusted. So far there has not been a date set for the rescheduling of this particular hearing. But since the future of Internet casino gambling laws in the United States hangs in the balance, hopefully that date will be scheduled in the very near future.

Operators of online casinos the world over have been watching with eager anticipation as Frank has made considerable progress in terms of getting the message out that it is a win-win situation for casino gambling laws to be revamped entirely in America. With our economy still hanging in the toilet thanks to this bleak and seemingly endless economic recession, we need to look outside the box when it comes to coming up with strategies for rebuilding an economic recovery.

With the quantity of revenue that could possibly be generated from regulation and taxation of Internet casino sites in the United States, this is an opportunity we cannot afford to miss out on. Many people within Congress are finally starting to realize this and hopefully soon will the logic of this notion will be accepted by everyone.

Frank Grabs 63rd Signature

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Out of anyone who has an invested interest in the future of online casinos, I would not want to be the one to tell Representative Barney Frank that all of his elaborate and tireless efforts have been for naught. And that inevitability is just a little bit further from reality. News came in recently that Frank was able to snag one more highly important signature for his online casino gambling legislation that aims to revamp the regulatory and licensing limitations in America. The 63rd co-sponsor of Frank’s now infamous bill is the 9th district Representative Anthony Weiner of New York. With Weiner on board, that makes Frank’s list of supporters even stronger.

While many have now been predicting that the situation involving the future for online casinos will be pushed back to sometimes in the early months of 2010, that does not mean that Frank has stopped in his efforts to keep this particular issue at the forefront of the political discussion. And at a time when the economy is in the toilet, health care reform is chalked up as just another endless fiasco and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq rage on, this is an increasingly challenging feat to accomplish.

Frank seems to have not lost any personal momentum however, and this is a very good thing. The internet casino industry needs his commitment to advocacy if this thing is truly going to make the progress that it needs to make. Everyone has admitted that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act has been a resounding disaster so we need something logical and viable to put in its place.

Frank Collects 5 More Supporters

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

If you ever had any doubts about Representative Barney Frank’s commitment to the future of online casinos within the United States, the time has long come for you to throw those negative thoughts right out the window. Frank has made some major and crucial headway in gaining more and more support for the online casino regulation bill he proposed a couple of months ago. The bill, HR 2267, is aimed at getting the internet casinos of America properly licensed and regulated so that the industry can be a support to the nation’s struggling economy.

Of course, not everyone has such positive feelings about online casinos and the gambling industry in general. Frank recently gained the support of a remarkable five more members of Congress. This level of progress that he has made is truly remarkable given all that the Congress has on their plates right now with the economy in the toilet, the problems in Iraq and Afghanistan, global warming…the list just goes on and on. But there is hope now that he has amassed 47 different politicians coming from both sides of the aisle to lend their support on this bipartisan cause.

The bill may be pushed all the way back to sometime during the month of September but that is too be expected since so much else is going on. But casino gamers everywhere should remain hopefully and cautiously optimistic that good things will indeed eventually come to those who wait. Voters who happen to love internet casino gaming should also be sure to continue to write letters and emails to their representatives and let them know that this issue is important to you.

Frank Signs Two More Sponsors

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that at some point in time, Representative Barney Frank will indeed be successful in making sure that the online casinos of America are properly regulated and licensed. Now, the real question at hand is simply when he will be able to pull this off. Now is a tricky time for Congress to take any firm action in this regard. They are too busy arguing over whether or not they should issue some sort of commemorative official statement after the death of Michael Jackson. Granted, they are also engaged in trying to figure out how to manage the wars, the economy and global warming among other things. President Obama has a lot on his plate beyond just addressing the issues related to online casino gambling laws in the United States.

But Frank has moved forward another couple of steps in the process recently as he succeeded in adding two more sponsors to his bill, HR 2267. The bill he has proposed is meant to license and regulate online casinos in America. Now the two politicians who have signed on to give their support include Representative Edolphus Towns from New York and Representative Paul Hodes of New Hampshire. Two simple additions may not seem like much, but every little bit of support counts as Frank tries to advance his cause for casino operators and players across the nation.

Right now the bill is in a bit of a holding pattern in the House Financial Services Committee and it will most likely remain there until sometime in the month of September. But there are a great number of people who are eager and hopeful as they await a positive outcome to this long-awaited decision. This could be the next big step in bringing in a whole new industry for casino gaming in America, especially if they succeed in repealing the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. That is the real key toward moving on from this jumble of ridiculousness.

Frank Addresses WSOP Crowd In Vegas

Friday, July 10th, 2009

When Representative Barney Frank took the stage recently at the World Series of Poker in the heart of Las Vegas, you better believe that he had the attention of all of the major players and operators who are invested in the business of online casinos from the moment he walked into the room. Frank has been the most committed warrior figure in the fight to acquire a proper regulatory system for online casino sites within the United States, and his battle has been a rather rough and discouraging one at many points along the way. But of course, Frank was pleased to be invited and received as a guest of honor for this fabulous World Series of Poker tournament. His audience included almost all of the top names in the poker and online casino gaming industry.

Frank was intent on indicating that he sees that the delays that have been experienced so far in terms of getting the bill he proposed to regulate online casinos within America should be heard sometime this fall. Although it has been pushed back several times due to some very pertinent issues revolving around the national economy and the glowering recession, that did not discount its chances of getting before congress so that progress can be made.

Frank has a great many supporters among online poker fans throughout America and also within many other countries all around the globe. Frank also took some time in Las Vegas to speak out once more about the ineffectiveness of the UIGEA that has left a decidedly large shadow looming over the casino gaming world for quite some time.

Frank Speaks In Vegas At WSOP

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Everyone who is even remotely invested in the future of online casinos within the United States listened quite intently recently as Representative Barney Frank spoke to poker players and other industry operatives at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Frank indicated in his address that he is still thoroughly committed to pushing along with his efforts to get his proposed bill that will aim at regulating online casino gambling sites once and for all within America. Of course, Frank has faced considerable uphill challenges on his path along the way up to this point, and he acknowledges that the battle is far from over. For one thing, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is still in existence.

Everyone out there who claims to be a true fan of online casinos in the United States should receive that fact as basically a big slap in the face. It is a slap in the face to anyone who thinks that they should be able to exercise their basic rights in terms of choosing to patron different casino gaming sites no matter where they may live. Frank was invited to participated in the festivities in Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker as a special guest of honor.

But he did mention that there have been a series of delays in terms of getting the bill all the way to the hearing stage because of the recession that is looming over the heads of politicians everywhere in America these days. It is a tricky situation and a bit of a difficult time to get issues that are not among the very top concerns (the economy, the wars, global warming, immigration, etc.) heard in a swift manner. That is just not in the cards right now. No pun intended.

Frank Introduces New Proposal

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

As the highly anticipated World Series of Poker is now only a matter of days away, the world of online casinos is gearing itself up into a frenzy of excitement and wonder. Another thrilling event for the online casino realm to focus in on, albeit much less glamorous, is the effort of Congressman Barney Frank. Just this week he is putting forth a bill that aims at repealing all of the wounds and woes that have come about since the installation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Frank is proposing that there needs ot be some sort of effective framework in place that allows licensed casino operators to permit online wagers that come from people who reside within the United States.

For those who have not been following the progress or lack there of in terms of the battle that Frank has waged against the Bush administration on this particular issue, that proposal may sound rather basic and benign. As far as anti-gambling opponents are concerned, however, Frank may as well be the personification of the anti-Christ. The legislation that Frank has thrown his support behind has been carefully and painstakingly designed so that it includes a great quantity of consumer protections including protections against underage casino gambling, money laundering, compulsive gambling, fraud and identity theft.

And even though this sounds extreme, if Frank has his way, this could all mean very positive things for online casinos everywhere. Since Americans are tending to spend somewhere around $100 billion every single year at offshore casino gambling enterprises despite all of the obstacles in their way from the UIGEA, it is high time things were turned around so that the money could be funneled in ways that improve the country.
