Australian Government Assembles Panel

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

In many corners of the world, there are a number of different efforts underway to revise and reform policies devoted to online casinos. Down under in the nation of Australia, the Chilean government has been pushing for a number of different online casino gambling reforms. Most recently they have selected 22 people to serve on a new expert panel to increase the scope and effectiveness of their efforts. They have assembled the ministerial expert advisory group on gambling and their goal will be to provide a specialist in technical support and advice and play a vital role in the helping the government to install pear online casino gambling reforms. It’ll be interesting to see how great of an impact this expert panel has on this activity.

The Australian government has definitely managed to be very progressive and hands-on in terms of its use of advanced technology to curb incidents related to problem gambling and to offer support services for players in need. It seems that the future of online casinos is very much up in the air and divided as to the developments that are taking place in Australia.

They have pulled their 22 representatives to serve on this expert panel from a variety of interest groups including manufacturers of gaming machines and representatives from hotels and casinos and a number of specialists hailing from different research and academic institutions that focus on investigating problem gambling behavior and solutions. This will definitely be something that operators of online casino sites from all over the globe will be looking at to see what sort of solutions they come up with.

Australian Gambling Report Released

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

It seems that the effort from the Australian government to address the changes for their online casinos is finally available and accessible to the general public. The review of online casino gambling in Australia was conducted by the government’s Productivity Commission. The results of the report are interesting in some aspects and very predictable in regard to other elements. But most important at this point is that the review comes with some clever and insightful suggestions in regard to how internet casinos can best be regulated so that everyone ends up being satisfied with the system.

The next stage in this elaborate and seemingly endless process for the regulation of online casinos in Australia is for a public hearing phase to take place. This will happen during the months of November and December and the final report will end up being turned in to the federal government by the later days of February of the coming year. That is the suggested timeline for everything to come together at this point in time, but we all know that sometimes things happen and processes hit snags and the timeline gets pushed back.

Just as Representative Barney Frank about that. One of the most compelling and thought-provoking findings from the internet casino gambling regulation report is that the ban that Australia put into effect for online gambling has not been successful or effective at all. Many people who have been following the development of this particular situation would shake their head and smack their forehead: of course it hasn’t been working! It is obvious that Australians are playing more and more on overseas gambling sites to bypass their own domestic ban.
