Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

The Aussie Millions Poker Championship is turning out to be a huge success. With fierce competitors hailing from distant locales all across the globe, this international online casino poker event is shaping up to be one of the big highlights of 2009 so far. The 23-day competition has even earned the privilege of playing host to the Poker Pack, a group of six Asian poker players who are representing the Asian Poker Tour and are also, incidentally dominating their field of competition. The people behind AsianLogic who are being represented by the Poker Pack are very pleased with the group’s performance so far in the event. They have made quite an impression on many operators of online casinos.

The Aussie Millions consists of 10 different championship casino events that include almost every variation of the game of poker that exist. Over 2000 different players from all sorts of different online casinos have joined the ranks of the competitors to battle it out. In addition some 800 or more players will be vying for the guaranteed first prize that now totals $2 million (Australian dollars). That will be up for grabs in the $10,500 buy-in no-limit Texas Hold’em main event.

The players are doing their best right now to try to stay in the casino action long enough to make it to the big main event but the competition is intense and unless you have an incredible amount of skill and smarts on your side in addition to a healthy supply of good old-fashioned luck, then you should spend your time praying to your deity of preference. The Aussie Millions has definitely succeeded in creating a poker event that is getting to be one of the top international events of the year.

The Poker Pack Gives Impressive Showing At Aussie Millions

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

I am sure you have heard of the glamorous Rat Pack that consisted of the likes of Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra. You may have even heard of the Brat Pack that consisted of young 1980s actors like Demi Moore and Rob Lowe. But the real question in this day and age is whether or not you have ever heard of the Poker Pack. The Poker Pack consists of six of the best and brightest poker players in the world and they are showing their tremendous skills at Melbourne’s Crown Casino this week. They are competing alongside some 2,000 other players in the Aussie Millions Poker Championship.

The Poker Pack’s main function – besides kicking butt and taking names – is to serve as ambassadors to the Asian Poker Tour. They are a group of hand-picked players with Asian backgrounds who have played at all different kinds of online casinos and they are quickly making a name for themselves as a force to be reckoned with. The Poker Pack includes Quinn Do, Nam Le, David Rheem, Kwang Soo Lee, Steve Sung and JC Tran. In a short period of time this remarkable squad has already managed to wow their rivals and build up a faithful base of adoring fans. They are known for their incredible skill in the casino game of poker both as individual players and now as a team of warriors.

Outside of the United States, this online casino group is regarded as one of the top poker playing ensembles anywhere in the world. The company behind them, AsianLogic Limited, which recently acquired the Asian Poker Tour, has all the confidence in the world for their team of poker players.  And why shouldn’t they? They have already made their mark at many online casinos.

Aussie Millions Brings Some Intense Poker Competition

Monday, January 19th, 2009

The fifth event of the Poker Aussie Millions ended up being a $1,100 H.O.R.S.E. tournament in which players engaged in a competition that was a blend of Fixed Limit maha Hi-Lo, Seven Card Stud, Fixed Limit Texas Hold’em and Seven Card Stud Eights or Better. This event was considered one of the ultimate displays that indicates for everyone to see how much the world of poker is expanding all over the globe. While in previous years competitions like the Aussie Millions and the World Series of Poker brought together only the top professional players in the industry, nowadays these events are opening up the field to include a whole different range of competitors. One of the reasons for this shift is the low buy-in price of the tournament.

The final table at the Aussie Millions event ended up taking just a little bit more than five hours to complete. That was seen as a pretty quick game because usually fixed limit events that have two split-pot games take a good deal longer to finish out.

The big heads-up struggle fought between Van Marcus and David Solomon reached its climax during a round of Omaha Hi-Lo. With a board of 5c-7h-3h-Td, each of the players went for it. Marcus held 8862 and Solomon called with Q742 and the low pot was locked down. The six on the river served him up a straight for the scoop and he left the table as the ultimate winner. It will be interesting to see how the big event down under goes next year because it seems that the world of poker is undergoing some major changes.
