One of the top creative online poker companies, PKR.com, has recently undertaken some high-tech research specifically devoted to neurological research. Why would they do such a thing? Well, it seems that they have hopes of this research providing them with answers about how to better understand consumers’ online experiences. In a nutshell, the company plans to use the data they uncover through this research to better adapt the poker site’s web re-launch. Their re-launch is scheduled for sometime in the next year and they want to have it so new and improved that it will work to appeal to players’ exact preferences.

The folks at PKR.com are working closely with Foviance using electroencephalography (EEG) technology to obtain information on what sort of emotional relationship poker players may have with a brand or a particular service. The way the EEG works is that it measures electrical activity in certain parts of the brain. PKR.com is hoping that whatever details they find out in this research can be used to give their 2.25 million subscribers even better personalized service.

Some early results they have received so far through their research shows that PKR does seem to provide a mich higher level of emotional engagement when compared against its rival sites. Specific peaks and valleys in terms of concentration were also identified including certain areas where the players feel a sense of confusion – especially if they are new players. Now PKR will take this information under advisement to help design their website so that it offers more tutorials to better meet the needs of these newer players so their sense of confusion is limited or prevented altogether.
