Las Vegas Has Rough Year With Lots Of Changes

In a place as flashy and glamorous as Las Vegas, the strip is definitely a place that is vulnerable to trends that come along and make a big splash initially only to fade away rather rapidly. The past year in Las Vegas has seen a great many changes and shifts take place. Key among them is the reduction in overall revenue as the national and international financial situation continues to take a nosedive and the average American finds himself or herself with considerably less disposable income than ever before.

Another trend seen in 2008 was the fun and frolicking Las Vegas pool party that became increasingly popular as the year progressed. Another common occurrence was  rise in frequency of the adventure tours. One of the biggest developments was quite bizarre on so many different levels that it was incredibly hard to keep track of them all was the conviction of O.J. Simpson. Who would have thought?

Some of the biggest name son the strips in terms of performers for the year were Cher, Bette Midler, Criss Angel, Donny and Marie Osmond and the Jersey Boys. 2008 also saw the opening of a bunch of new hotels in Las Vegas including the Aliante Station, the Eastside Cannery, Trump International, the Palazzo, Palms Place and Steve Winn’s Encore. Although it was a rough year for new business and revenue numbers, that didn’t seem to stop a bunch of new hotels and restaurants from popping up all up and down the main strip and beyond. Some of the new restaurants include Restaurant Charlie, Carnevino by Mario Batali, AGO, Sinatra’s, Tale 10 by Emeril. Simon and Botero Steak.
