Ireland Holds Off On Taxing Online Casinos

In the world of online gambling, it takes a lot of effort and usually a lot of time to build up an empire and establish yourself as a force to be reckoned with. Ireland has made leaps and bounds in its more recent attempt to gain a stronger foothold in an increasingly competitive market. Most recently, the country’s Finance Ministry has chosen to keep on with their policy of not taxing any of the online casinos. This is great news for all concerned parties, especially when the global economy seems hell-bent on continuing its current course of a downward spiral.

The Irish Finance Minister, Brian Lenihan, mentioned that his department hoped to devote a substantial amount of time to study and analyze the online gambling industry before making an hasty decisions that could jeopardize the well-being of many of its citizens, both players and employees of online gambling operations. There is no telling as of yet what sort of findings they Ministry will uncover, but it will be working toward finding data that will help make it clear as to whether or not the industry should be included in a system of taxation or not.

Many people are confident that the results will be positive for the industry since it is quite clear to all involved parties that Ireland, as a nation, stands to benefit greatly by the huge number of jobs that could be created through the expansion of the online gambling industry. While land-based casinos have recently received a tax increase, it is slight and should not have too harsh or negative of an impact on the industry in general.
