Gambling Legal In North Carolina
Posted on: December 31st, 2009 6:44 pm | By: helenIt seems that the fate of online casinos within the state of North Carolina has made an abrupt shift of ate. Thanks to a recent court ruling in North Carolina, there is a new future for online casino gambling in America.
The court’s ruling indicates that sweepstakes outlets are still in compliance with the state laws if they engage in the running of slots and video poker. The loophole in this particular scenario is that there is technically no cash involved in the transaction so this activity does not violate any of the laws regarding internet casino gambling.
What the online gambling venues do to skirt around this particular tangle is simply give the winners their rewards in the form of more time on the computer or more time on the phone. Keep in mind, however, that there is still indeed a state-wide ban that puts the nix on video poker machines that use cash. Some gambling operators had gone ahead and sued claiming that tribal casinos are able to host video poker sessions and that this was in direct violation of federal Indian gambling laws.
But the court saw the situation in an entirely different light. But things are apparently still running rather smoothly for internet cafes that happen to offer computer time on computers that happen to run slots games. As far as the letter f the law is concerned, these internet cafes, however questionable their intentions may be, are still legally eligible to continue to operate. Who knows what this particular development will mean for online casinos in America in the future, but hopefully it signals some positive changes yet to come.
