Famous Poker Player Brunson Criticizes Dikshit’s Actions
Posted on: January 4th, 2009 7:48 am | By: helenWhile every overprotective mother has watched with immense pleasure as Anurag Dikshit, co-founder of PartyGaming, has pled guilty to charges of violation of the 1961 Wire Act, other industry players are not so proud of the development. Dikshit has been ordered by the United States courts to pay $300,000. On top of all of that, he has received some stinging words of criticism from a poker legend named Doyle “Teas Dolly Brunson.
Dikshit recently admitted his guilt to using the wires to transmit different bets and assorted wager information via interstate commerce. He is now looking down the nose of the barrel and could face a grueling two-year jail sentence. Through being one of the founders of PartyGaming, an incredibly successful online gambling company, Dikshit ended up earning multi-billionaire status after PartyGaming went public.
Brunson criticized Dikshit for not demonstrating a great sense of obligation and loyalty to online poker since it was entirely responsible for delivering him his status as an extremely wealthy man. Brunson claims that Dikshit gave in too easy to “some kind of mystery law.” This development has definitely created quite a stir in the online poker community, a normally happy-go-lucky and reliably cordial place. Brunson said that it brought some ill will from many other online poker sites. He went on to say that he could not imagine what was going on in Dikshit’s mind when he made his decision. He said Dikshit’s actions showed that he had absolutely no loyalty in his heart for the industry that made him a rich man. Basically, through his guilty plea, he abandoned the industry altogether. Only time will tell if Dikshit will attempt some sort of comeback after serving his time.
