Despite UIGEA Woes, U.S. Players Continue To Play Big Roll In Industry
Posted on: January 21st, 2009 1:44 am | By: helenAlthough the UIGEA has brought substantial setbacks to the online casino industry throughout the entire United States, the claims made by the American government that tell of how well the UIGEA is working are not exactly entirely true. Beyond a shadow of a doubt it is still the United States that serves as one of the main driving forces behind this incredibly powerful and financially potent business. It is a multi-billion dollar industry and no insignificant little government regulation will be able to hold it back for any prolonged length of time.
Back in 2007, PricewaterhouseCoopers completed a study that revealed he amount of money that was expected to come out of the online casino industry during the course of the next decade or so and the results of this study were astounding. In 2006 when the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was created, there was a full year that passed during which time there was supposed to be a ban in effect on the industry, but there didn’t seem to be too drastic a change. The study showed that customers within the United States were a huge factor in the success of the Internet gambling industry.
The PricewaterhouseCoopers study indicated that the United States could potentially see as much as $17.6 billion in profits over the coming decade if solid regulations for put in place for online casinos. Barney Frank and several other politicians are working on getting the UIGEA overturned so that this sort of financial opportunity could be opened up to America in her time of need. The economy is in an incredibly sorry state right now and we should consider every possibility that exists to get it back on the right track.
