Harrahs Leads Environmental Effort In Vegas
Sunday, March 29th, 2009While many online casinos have made a name for themselves in the industry for not only providing some fabulous gaming to their loyal players, several have also gone out fo their way to lend a helping hand to different organizations and causes the help raise awareness and money that they have donated to worthy causes. But not all of the online casinos out there are interested in doing good for the whole or humanity. Some online casino sites are content to stay focused on cranking out profits and searching for ways to increase their revenue.
One place in the world of gambling that most people do not think fo when it comes to doing good for the greater world is Las Vegas. But just recently, led by the efforts of Harrah’s Entertainment Inc, the city of Las Vegas participated in the “Earth Hour” in which many hotels and casinos and other business along the strip dimmed or shut down their decorative lighting systems for a full hour on a Saturday night. The goal of the event is to raise awareness about climate change.
While the Earth Hour event has already been held two other times, this was the first time Las Vegas got on board for the ffort. And not only did the city participate, it was one of the flagship cities for the event. The other flagship cities included Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, San Francisco, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Dallas and Miami. It was the impressie charge led by the people at Harrah’s that led to the city actually taking the plunge to participate. They went around the city urging other casinos and business to get involved. They scheduled meetings with city officials and got Donny and Marie Osmond, headliners at the Flamingo to shot a public service announcement.
