Aussie Millions Brings Some Intense Poker Competition

The fifth event of the Poker Aussie Millions ended up being a $1,100 H.O.R.S.E. tournament in which players engaged in a competition that was a blend of Fixed Limit maha Hi-Lo, Seven Card Stud, Fixed Limit Texas Hold’em and Seven Card Stud Eights or Better. This event was considered one of the ultimate displays that indicates for everyone to see how much the world of poker is expanding all over the globe. While in previous years competitions like the Aussie Millions and the World Series of Poker brought together only the top professional players in the industry, nowadays these events are opening up the field to include a whole different range of competitors. One of the reasons for this shift is the low buy-in price of the tournament.

The final table at the Aussie Millions event ended up taking just a little bit more than five hours to complete. That was seen as a pretty quick game because usually fixed limit events that have two split-pot games take a good deal longer to finish out.

The big heads-up struggle fought between Van Marcus and David Solomon reached its climax during a round of Omaha Hi-Lo. With a board of 5c-7h-3h-Td, each of the players went for it. Marcus held 8862 and Solomon called with Q742 and the low pot was locked down. The six on the river served him up a straight for the scoop and he left the table as the ultimate winner. It will be interesting to see how the big event down under goes next year because it seems that the world of poker is undergoing some major changes.
