About Ricky at GamblingReview |
 |
|
|
|
|
Ricky is a Brooklyn native,
born into a family of avid
poker players and gamblers.
Many of his memories stem from
long evenings of watching
senior citizens shout “Bingo!”
while they smoked cigarettes
and ate Swedish fish in the
basement of the local church.
While he has since quit
second-hand smoking, he still
enjoys the thrill of playing
and (occasionally) winning.
When he's not gambling
online or scouring the
internet for casino news, he
enjoys fishing, karaoke, video
games and movies. He is also
the lead singer of , A Center
for Ants, an alt-rock garage
band with no drummer. They had
a drummer, but he got married,
cut his hair, and moved to
Iowa to be an accountant.
There was a time where Ricky
tried to get into fantasy
baseball, but his girlfriend's
love of “dinner parties” and
“couple's night” put the
kibosh on that. On good
weekends, Ricky hits the
tables of Atlantic City and
strolls the boardwalk for some
food and fun. Call him a
metrosexual, but to him the
spas are every bit as
enjoyable as winning at slots.
He began writing as a
third grader for the
elementary school newspaper
where he would write about
field day and Jimmy Ryan's
odds of beating Kevin Austin
in the potato sack race. He
graduated Hofstra University
with a degree in Creative
Writing and a huge amount of
debt, but quickly landed a job
as a waiter in an Italian
restaurant to support his
writing habit. After that, he
spent time performing as a
nationally touring stand-up
comedian, which was a lot of
fun for him and for the
interest on the above
mentioned college loans that
he had to defer to do so.
Ricky started blogging
about online gaming as a
hobby, to find other
like-minded gamers in search
of something better and has
since parlayed itself into a
semi-full time gig. He also
writes for several area and
national lifestyle and travel
magazines where he specializes
in the best of what's around.
